Health Benefits of Yoga Poses

What is Yoga Meditation

Before we get into what is yoga meditation, I would like to say a few words about yoga and meditation separately, because when speaking of yoga, many people think about the physical aspect of yoga and about the physical health benefits of it. While the poses in yoga have an important role they are only minor compared to the true unfolding of the human mind and soul. The meaning of the word yoga is “union”, it is the Universal Consciousness together with one’s personal consciousness.

In our everyday life, we tend to seek external experiences to make us feel better, only to find that when we receive that thing we want something more and then more and more. We try to keep on doing instead of simply being, we try to reach happiness but nothing external can fulfill our deepest wishes. If you would like to know what is yoga meditation, then it is one of the methods in which one can reach ultimate union with the universe or god.

Benefits of Yoga

Yoga has many benefits, health benefits such as flexibility, improvement of balance, bone health and yoga can also release tension and stress. You can read more about the health benefits of yoga based on research and what is yoga good for to learn more about the benefits of yoga.

There are many forms of meditation, you can close your eyes or leave them open, you can concentrate on your breath or you can let your mind wander.Aashtanga Yoga For Beginners

Mediation is like exercise for the mind that awakens your attention to the conscious mind while instilling calmness at the same time. This doesn’t just create a more clear and positive atmosphere for your mind, but also can have profound effect on your physical body. (From

Meditating is the practice of the mind, teaching it to relax and that it is ok NOT to think of things all the time, letting our minds become calmer is very important as many of us (including myself) tend to over complicate things. Once you meditate, even for 5 minutes, you start to feel the sensation of the present, and you start to enjoy life for what it is.

The mind and the soul are both benefited from meditation, a regular meditation practice can relieve pain, anxiety, and stress. When you practice meditation you teach your mind to be aware, grateful and alive. You can use meditation to look at the things that are bothering you in your life right now and decide to let them go.

Yoga Meditation

Yoga meditation is about bringing the mind and soul together in harmony by concentration, breathing, and movement. The yoga poses together with the breaths are what make a yoga sequence relaxing and mindful.

Although becoming flexible is one of the benefits that you can receive while you are doing your yoga routine, the most important thing is to check in with your body and see how you feel. Are your mind and body in harmony while practicing yoga?

Let me say thank you, for the experience, as I now feel more at peace, less anxious, and more ready to work. I need to take 5 minutes out of a busy scheduled day, every day, to make sure I am breathing well, and letting go, just as talked about here today. Thanks for the better guided understanding of this process.

      Hi Andrew,

You are welcome and I am so happy to know that you took the time to relax and breath 🙂 You can create a reminder on your phone or computer to remind you to take a 5 minute break of whatever it is that you are doing. (and if you find 5 minutes to be too much, you can always start with 1 minute)

I wish you have a wonderful day.
